• When you try to edit an image while editing a post (Click on image, hit Edit Original button under photo), you get this error message (when trying to crop, at least):

Could not load the preview image. Please reload the page and try again.

This is a very old problem judging from the threads I’ve seen in Support. Why has it not been fixed yet?

I’ve tried several things I’ve seen suggested, including removing the functions.php file from the Child theme and changing to a standard theme like Twentythirteen. No change.

    Anyone have a workaround?

    Thanks.

    Have you tried:

deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fourteen Theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue.
    – If above steps do not resolve the issue, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems (because the hooks remain unless plugins completely removed or some plugins stick around in cached files. So by renaming the folder, you break them and force them inactive).
