I see a new ZIP-file but no blog post about it? Also, the readme in the latest ZIP says "wp 2.6.1"? And where are the release notes?

even WP backend is showing this new release.

Patience. It just got pushed through a few minutes ago.
Also, upgrading is *highly* recommended. There are (at least) two security related updates in 2.6.2.
