• I have the Genesis Slider plug-in, however, I would like to stop using the slider completely. What are my options for using the area the slider is in? How do I make changes to it? Is there another option than the slider plug-in? I’m thinking of having a static picture or pictures with a short text description.

Any help would be appreciated. I’m a total newbie, so speaking in layman’s terms and giving me a clear process is VERY helpful.

  • Please go to the Studiopress support forums for questions specific to paid themes.

IF you are using a plugin, just remove the widget from the widget area and deactivate the plugin.

Anything can be used in an existing widget area. This is true on all themes.

    Thanks for replying, Andrea.

I don’t think I’m using a paid theme, not sure what that is, actually. How would I find out?

@cbader – I believe she is referring to your use of “genesis theme” in the title. Genesis is a paid theme. If you are referring specifically to a plugin that allows you to add a slider via widget, the second part of her answer should do the trick.

    Ok, thanks, Craig.

I thought that I need to deactivate the widget, but I’m not sure how to figure out what I can put in the area. I mean, she said anything. Does that mean I can do a photo and text combination? I’ve tried searching for help about this (like instructions) but I’m just not finding anything.

I’m seriously afraid of messing up my website, ‘cuz I’ve done it before. Glad that I have backups, but it would be nice to know a little bit (ok, maybe a lot) more before I do much damage.

You should have a bunch of widgets available to drag-n-drop into the desired widget area. They all do different things – You can even drop HTML right into a text widget.
