  • You definitely need to tell us what you are talking about!

Captcha? Recaptcha? There are lots of different “word verification boxes” that prevent spam.

As for “Auto moderation requests” are you talking about Akismet? This is for spam that gets through to your comments, you can turn this option off, but then spam comments will be shown on your site without your knowledge.

Captcha is aword verifcation used on graigs list that you have to use to post an ad. I want to use that or any such download to kill the spam coming to my blog. I can’t ust askimet because my Api Key is not in my profile and there is no way to email wordpress t have them put it in there. Yes, you are supposed to be able to get by editing some code and sending it back. I have looked at that and cannot do it. I am not a coder. Ijust need something I can install without the Api code.

    1. Captchas usually don’t stop the spam – because over 90% of the spam is trackback, not comment, and made by automated scripts that go around your captcha.
    2. Do you have, actually, an account on wordpress.COM (not here at wordpress.ORG!!!) in order to get your API key for Akismet?
