Taxonomy Filter Not Working

    I am having trouble getting the plugin to successfully filter a taxonomy that came with my theme. The taxonomy is portfolio_category and the post type is portfolio.

    When I filter using the portfolio category drop down, the result takes me to my home page with /?portfolio_category=buildings appended to the end of the home url.

    The path for the building portfolio is as follows:
    /portfolio_category/buildings/

    Why is the filet not bringing me to /portfolio_category/buildings/?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated, and please let me know if more info is needed about my issue to solve it!
