Brander WP Theme function errors

    Here’s what I know:

    1. I did a clean install. This included a new database and fresh download of Word Press 3.9.1

    2. I downloaded and unzipped the theme. I used FTP to upload it to the themes folder.

    3. I created an uploads folder and set permissions to 777. I did the same for the themes and plugins folders. I know this isn’t necessary.

    4. I activate the theme and all appears to be fine.

    5. The theme requires plugins which I install through the theme’s wizard and then activate them.

    6. As soon as the last one is activated the page auto refreshes, I can all kinds of function errors –

    The more I do as I set up the site the more the errors increase…..

    Try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Once you have isolated the problem and are back to a working site, get in touch with the designer of Brander to work of what happened and how to correct it. Brander is a premium theme, so we are unable to support it here.

    In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations. Doing this will provide the developer with the income they need to make WordPress awesome.

    Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

    Thank you for your help. I understand that in the larger context this isn’t your problem.

    It turns out that it isn’t the either.

    I deleted all the plugins after de-activating and then added them one by one. It seems that the order in which the plugins are inst5alled and activated was the problem. Installing and activating the shortcode ultimate add on to allow the creation of custom shortcodes was incompatible with meta box when loaded prior to meta box.

    I recommend passing that on to the theme’s designer too, as there could be something they could do about that for everyone else. 🙂
