    Oh, and about the difference: WPML and similar plugins create hidden posts on the same site to handle the translations, or they hide parts of the post content depending on the language.

    Multilingual Press uses your regular standard posts and puts each language on a separate site in a network. That means:

    1. You can use different plugins and a different theme per language.
    2. You can export and import your content easily.
    3. There is no need to add slow filters to standards queries or post output.
    4. You can turn the translation plugin off, and all your content is still accessible.

    This has a huge impact on performance. Test it with Query Monitor. You will not believe the difference until you have seen it. 🙂
