Support » Fixing WordPress » Plugins have disappeared from WP install and cannot reinstall

  • I have been running 3.9.1 for a while on a site and everything went well, until all plugins just seem to disappear.

    – The plugins directory still exists
    – All the plugins are still there
    – I reverted the site from its custom theme to the standard twentyfourteen, but the plugins still do not show in the dashboard
    – I have renamed the plugin directory to “yadayada” and made a new plugins directory, then tried to move the akismet plugin over to the new directory, but it still does not show in the dashboard, so I cannot activate it.

I am a bit stumped at this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • It could be down to the database – try uninstalling the plugins and reinstalling (deleting them from the server)

Yes, have been doing that, but that is a tedious job. Frustrating.

And now it turns out that one of the plugins is no longer available. That sucks. 😉
