WordPress Keeps Asking Me to Install WordPress

    For some reason when I went to my blog this afternoon, I instead was redirected to a page telling me to install WordPress. I entered the info and clicked the install button only to get a long list of WordPress database errors saying various files couldn’t be opened. But the end of the message tells me WordPress was installed and asks me to log in. When I click the button I’m redirected back to the install page. Prior to this afternoon, this was a perfectly working site. This has come out of nowhere and because I cannot get access to my admin pages, I cannot back up my latest posts.

    I cannot back up my latest posts.

    It might be a good time to back up your sql database from your hosts control panel (or whatever sql admin tools you use), before proceeding.

    You are proceeding at your own risk if you don’t have a current backup to rely on…

    Thanks for the suggestion. It seems maybe I hot some sort of snag with an auto-update plug-in but I don’t know how to undo it. Yahoo hosts my site and don’t have access so the sql database (at least none that I’m aware of). I’ve been having nothing but problems with them lately which, until know, have all been on their end — mysql issues. They insist this time it’s not on their end, though. Anyway, I have a back-up from 3 days ago, so I won’t lose too much if it comes down to creating a new site. If you have any ideas on what to do with the above file, though, please share. Thanks.

    I poked around and actually did find their database admin tool. I’ll go ahead an back up before proceeding. Thanks again.
