I was in my dashboard and entered a list of bad IP addresses (I verified mine was not in that list). I also have my IP address whitelisted.

When I clicked on “Save” I got a 403 Forbidden error. After some investigation I found it was blocking my local host. I did not set up a MAMP or WAMP or whatever. I just do my thing in my dashboard on the fly and back it up.

Luckily, I had saved my password and user name on my computer, so when I entered the general URL, it automatically gave me the tool bar to access the dashboard.

I could not find where my local host was listed in iThemes Security plugin as a banned host.

Any suggestions? This happened on 5 websites, but not on 4 others I tried.

This is a test site, but I don’t want it to happen to any client sites I am building.

    Thanks,

I found the problem. When I install ithemes security, it automatically bans my local host and the one at home. I have to go into .htacess and delete the lines denying my IP address.

Then my site comes up and I can access the dashboard. I checked to be sure my IP address was whitelisted and it was NOT on the banned list. However the minutes I log out, I am banned again. It is as if iThemes security has memorized my IP address and continues to add it to the banned list as soon as I log out.

I just deleted the iThemes security and when with something else.

    Thanks,
