Hi there – thanks for this wonderful plugin, which my blog simply cannot live without! Thus, I am devastated to find that the first image of every post is no longer showing, and is being replaced by either “no thumbnail” or the default image I upload. I think I’ve tried all I can to figure it out, but no joy. It’s been like this for a week or so. Before that it was working perfectly for years.

I have made the plugin visible on only one page in my site, so you can see what I mean. At the top where it says “top shoes trending now”:

Once it is fixed, I can make it show on all pages again.

    Thank you!

    Hi there!

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been really busy these days. Anyways, just checked your site and the plugin seems to be displaying thumbnails now. Did you make any changes?

    Hi hector

Thanks for the reply – I had been refreshing and refreshing! Eventually thought I wouldn’t get a reply. Yes, I have made changes but the solution is not ideal for me:

It seems that the plugin has stopped generating thumbnails for the first image in the post, unless that image is in the media library.

In order to make the plugin work temporarily, I have set the duration of the plugin to posts for only 7 days, as opposed to 30 days or even for all time, which I’d prefer.

And then I have been uploading the pictures for the recent posts manually, one by one, into my WP media library as opposed to the way I was doing it before, which was to reference the folder my images are stored in. It was much easier for me to code my posts using this method.

The problem with this solution is that older posts since 2011 will still not have their thumbnails show up. Thus, I will always be offering only the most recent popular posts.

Any suggestions as to how to make the plugin recognise the first image of the post, even if that image is not in the WP media library?

What folder is this? A custom one in your uploads directory?

Make sure your uploads folder is writable by PHP, otherwise the plugin won’t be able to create thumbnails from images hosted outside of this directory.

Yes, it is. But it already was. I have tried the plugin again and it seems to be miraculously working again? I’m thrilled. Did you change anything on your side? THANK YOU
