2.0 ping not working?

As far as I can tell, it seems as though pinging is not happening when I make a new post. (Is there a good way of knowing this?) I have it set up with the default pingomatic url. I’ve been checking for a few hours on the various services (such as My Yahoo) to see if the new post shows up, and it isn’t. So I guess my questions are: How can I tell if pinging is working, and has anyone else had problems with wp 2.0 not pinging?
