2 versions of WP 3.5.1 and 3.3.2 on same hosted site? (6 posts)

Any thoughts or special tips needed to install a second installation of WP on the same hosted site as an existing 3.3.2 WP installation?

I have a mobile website theme that is not compatible with the latest WP version, so I need to install a newer theme and the latest version of WP, but I'd like to keep the older version up and running until I'm done creating the second site.

    thanks in advance.

thank you for the links. I had found those discussions but they were 5-6 years old and WP version 2.

Are those posts still valid for a current installations? and therefore there should not be any problems?

You can install different versions in your server without any problems as long as they in the different folder and also uses different database and/or different table prefixes.

    See: http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

But you really should not run outdated versions of WP anywhere - as that's a major security risk.

I agree, but unfortunately I need a 2 week overlap to convert to the 3.5.1 compatible themed site.

    best regards
