In the top right hand corner of my screen in the user-profile area I see the following:

Edit My Profile

What are those 2s?
The number of them has increased from 5 to 8 today.
There is another user working on the same website also as an administrator who does not see this with her login.
Have you tried:
- deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
- switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
- resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

None of these worked.
I referred the issue to my hosting company who couldn't work it out either.
They suggested that:
"I believe there's also a setting within WordPress that will store some files locally to make the admin area faster"
Is that of any possible significance?
Nope. Have you tried repairing your database?

I repaired the database as instructed in:

Any items in the "Overhead" column were repaired & now that column is empty.
It did not solve the appearance of the 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2s
