1and1 Theme issue on a fresh install (7 posts)

    Hi there,
I've been trying to get WordPress installed hosted by 1and1, the installation goes without a hitch, however I every attempt ends with the theme not displaying correctly.

I've tried multiple re installs both manually and using 1and1's click and build service, each time not one of the default themes displays correctly on the front end, I have also tried downloading different themes to try, again none of these work.

All layouts seem to work fine on the back end (as in the admin panel looks and functions exactly as it should).

Any help would be much appreciated as 1and1 appear to be useless.

The web site in question is dirtpath.org.uk

Don't 1and1 provide support for their product?

Apparently, even though they provide the click and build, they don't support anything to do with the software it installs! I'll likely be moving away from them, but they now have my domain. The e-mails I've been getting from them really do not fill me with confidence that they even understand the issue, let alone are able to solve it.

What do you mean the themes don't display right - twentytwelve on your site now looks okay - having no content always does make a site look a bit funny.

    Have you tried adding posts/pages/images?

    Looks okay? Really?

I've tried multiple browsers, cleared cookies and history etc, and all I see is a very blank theme (no matter which theme I apply).

Themes always look "blank" until you add content and start customizing it (i.e. add a menu, widgets, text, photos, whatever you want on your site) - themes don't come with content (usually) so a demo will look quite different.

I understand that. Not sure whats happened, but seems to be fixed.

Before when I installed a theme and activated it, it wouldn't even change a background colour if there was one to change, or a font family etc.

Wonder if 1and1 actually did something?

I feel rather stupid. Thanks for your time though!
