    I am new to wordpress, followed the install. I checked and see no errors, but my site still shows the default registration page as if wp isn't installed.

    First idea: Your wp-config.php is not writable.
    So wordpress can't fill in the data in it and save.

    In your root is there a wp-config.php?

    Your Server is 1und1?

    Sometimes for 1und1 you need a special DB_HOST -> it is not always localhost - please look for that in your 1und1 admin-panel

    i have some clients on 1and1 . i was now looking on one server.

    they have
    "localhost:/tmp/mysql5.sock"
    for db_host in there wp installs.

    try this.

    add the following to your wp-config.php:

    define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', true);
    error_reporting(E_ALL);

    Is there any error displayed?

    after everything is okay- you must delete this lines.

    I uninstalled and reinstalled, as 1and1 told me to. They claimed they couldn't see the wp files... which were right there or I couldn't be editing them.

    When I reinstalled, I used your localhost info. I couldn't log in with that, so I tried the localhost I had, which works.

    Tried your error report, on my dashboard the only error is "ERROR: The themes directory is either empty or doesn’t exist. Please check your installation."
