I am trying to install a blog at http://www.outdoorscience.co.uk. When I fill in the ‘Famous Five Minute Installation’ form, I get a ‘No data sent’ error in Chrome. I get a ‘server not found’ error in Safari (different computer) and a different error in IE.

I have FTP’d all the WordPress files, created an SQL user/database/password and have filled out the relevant fields in wp_config.php. My host (Free Virtual Servers) uses ‘localhost’ in db_host.

Is this a server or a WordPress problem? And how do I correct it?

I have another blog hosted by Free Virtual Servers, if that helps, and it is appearing fine.

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I’ve done that already 🙁 I downloaded WordPress again, edited wp_config.php again, deleted all the previous files, and uploaded new ones.

    No luck 🙁

I’ve come in desperation after trying several different things. I also deleted and recreated my SQL database.

Anything else I can try? I fill in the username, password, etc. in wp_config.php, but tend not to mess with the advanced options…

    Well done.
    Your website is working now.

Have you cleared your browser cache ?
If you need to see how the rest of the world views your website, then you can use a website proxy like: http://anonymouse.org/

You need to login to your website and so on.
