hey all,
i can go into my admin panel and create new pages (and posts). however, when i try to view the page it gives me a page not found error.
e.g. i created an about page, and the url is taking me to a subdirectory 'about', but there's nothing in that directory.
i though wp would take care of creating any directories and/or files it needed to, but i don't know if it needs to since a 'page' is just a db entry. is there something i have to do manually to view my pages? do i need to create or modify something by hand?
thnx!

no one else experienced this?
How about running Settings > Permalinks and click update?

hi,
thanks for the suggestion. however, i don't see any 'update' under 'Settings > Permalinks'.
i chose the permalink format as:
Month and name http://www.mortgagesrevealed.com/2008/08/sample-post/
i also tried screwing around with the .htaccess file. if i simply create .htaccess w/o putting in any entries, it prompts for a username and password every time. how is it supposed to be set up? who is supposed to have write permission: user, group, world?
thnx!
