• I not sure of version I’m using, but below is what I see when trying to pull up my site or attempting to log in wp admin.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’ in /home/content/90/6630590/html/wp-content/plugins/akismet/akismet.php on line 91

( Does this mean at all that my site has been hacked??)

When search the domain and I attempt to login, the same message appears?

Have I been hacked or is it a simple plug in situation?

What is the server? How do I get access? Is the server a different log in than admin where I usually sign in?

I had my friend upload the theme and basically maintain the site. Would he/she have info regarding the server etc…

Might have they hacked it? Or just a plug in issue?

Please leave clear reply. Thanks. Peter

  • I wouldn’t think that you’ve been hacked. This sort of error message is normally something from a botched plugin update where a file didn’t copy across as well as it should have. All that really needs to be done is either remove or re-install the Akismet plugin.

Your freind will have the details of the server as they would have needed that to set the site up. it is (normally) a different control panel, so if you ask them about it I’m sure that they’ll be able to help you out.

    Thanks.

My friend uploaded the theme and therefor has access to server….

Did they use their email to register the server and upload theme?

Although it is my website I asked wordpress knowledgeable person to upload theme because I found it difficult.

(How do I get into server? Can I get into server without the person who uploaded theme? or do I need certain username and password info from person who uploaded theme in order to log in to server?)

My friend is picking up his phone as of now. I guess I’m forced to wait for him her/him to access server or give me log in info though I wouldn’t know how to repair a plug in problem however the forum did offer advice on how to fix it. Thanks.

Question is how do I get into server if someone else uploaded theme, and I don’t have log in info?

Pls be clear on last question.

*my isn’t picking up phone nor answering email. Hopefully he’ll respond by tomorrow.

If you don’t have that information, and your friend can’t or won’t give it to you, there’s really not much else that anyone can do. The hosting company would only give out that information to someone that they have registered as owning that account, and I’m assuming that since you don’t know the access details then you won’t know the hosting company either.

The way it looks now is that you will have to wait for your friend as they are the only ones that have access to the information that you need. There’s no other way around it.

The company I bought template from, I believe gave gave me upload information which I gave to friend who helped upload template.

My question is, is the host same company I bought template?

Should I call the. Implant I bought template (host) to get info to server?

Or did my friend have to sign up elsewhere for a sever after I gave him info from seller of template who could be host as well?

(I’m trying to figure out since I actually bought the template, if that is in fact he host then j should have info to log in to server. If my friend created his own server then I wouldn’t have the info.)

If the person who sold me template is the host who gives access to server then I should have the info which I can dig up maybe in my email and call them to get password n all info. Then I can log into server and fix plug info easily myself I’m guessing.

Can someone differentiate server, host and template provider. Are those three the same?

More than likely, they are not.

The server is like your apartment, the host is like the landlord that you pay your rent to, and the template provider is like the store you purchased your new drapes from.

Wow. Then I most likely have host info since I would need that to give to friend who is uploaded theme. I think I bought host and them.

If I bought host as well as theme should I just look for email from company host and contact them for copy of key to apartment to fix curtain?

    I don’t thinking it’s over me.

Yeah, you should get in touch with your hosting provider about regaining access.

    Hi

I have a serious issue w/ my website that I hope this forum can help simplify and explain.

*Is anyone here familiar with Buildwith.com?

After you’ve answered that question then I’ll let you know how WordPress relates to it regarding my unfortunate situation.

Please can someone answer the question, yes or no?

Again, are you familiar with Buildwith.com?

    Thanks.

Not me, but if you explain the problem, we may still be able to help.

    Hello

    My WordPress was hacked.

    1) All the plug ins were removed!

It reads ” no plug ins are available “

however the host/server has the plug ins in tact.

Moving forward, I took care of the hack.

Question is, how do I enable the plug in, if it’s not there, and host claims to “have them. “?

Maybe I’ll make sure Ive taken full care of hack situation but I’m still cautious.

Thanks for answering that 1 question.

Try re-installing all of the plugin files, they may have been corrupted during the hack.

The original problem description resembles this ongoing massive attack
    http://blog.sucuri.net/2014/07/malware-infection-breaking-wordpress-sites.html

If it’s it, you should restore everything from a clean backup (or reinstall WP, plugins and themes). Make sure all plugins and themes are up-to-date. Then you might need to delete a rogue admin user from WordPress (it has no name but it’s ID in the database is 1001001)

Also make sure that your site doesn’t have open user registrations unless you really need it.
