Works well and with Ithemes Security

I’ve added this to boost our security by adding it with Ithemes Security on a few sites. I will implement it on hundreds of our WP sites if testing over the next month or two shows no conflicts. None so far and it has been a couple weeks of testing.

Each plugin does something different. After running just Ithemes Security and changing the login URL we still saw thousands of attempts against the page by robots and that was with Brute Force protection and nearly everything enabled in Ithemes Security. With Wordfence and Ithemes we have seen no more robots on those sites hitting it hard.

Great plugin for free that is for sure. I also love that you can block anyone trying to sign in with the wrong username and of course, admin. You can even designate a username to block if you see repeated attempts as well as IP blocking.

The Throttle is also very useful for slowing all robots and humans. I recommend not setting this to anything lower than 30 unless you’re under attack.

Flacon Engine for the cache has replaced our other caching plugins like WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache and Quick Cache. Just one less plugin we need to keep updated. Of course, the fewer plugins you have the better your WordPress site performance so it helps that way too.

Security scanning is also available outside the WordPress files. That is super. We run several systems that combine WordPress with our PHP MySQL created directories.

Last but not least you can designate a page that if it is hit by a human or robot they become blocked. That is a neat trick. As long as you set your .htaccess file to tell robots to ignore the page it should work well. You would not want to block search engine robots or site visitors so only a 1 pixel x 1 pixel hyperlink on the home page where nobody will accidentally click it should do the trick.
