• Recently I moved my wordpress installation to a subfolder leaving index.php in the root. The move was seamless and worked fine afterward.

Soon after I attempted to install elgg in another subfolder at the same root. It seemed as though I was having rewrite issues and so I tried to adjust .htaccess files (not knowing what I was doing).

A little tinkering here and there and I couldn’t access my wp anymore. So I put everything back where it was originally (before the move), changed mySQL entries to reflect blog and home page in the same folder, backed up my .htaccess files and placed blank ones in their place.

Now I can see the content of my blog but without any theme applied. I am entirely unable to access my admin pages. Instead I am redirected to the unformatted blog.

What sort of manual fixes do I need to make to mySQL, .htaccess files, etc. in order to get this thing back up and running?

Secondarily, can you conceive of a situation where .htaccess in a root folder screws up Rewrite rules in a subfolder’s .htaccess file? This is for my future Elgg installation.

    Thanks!
