Searching for a lightbox/NEXTGen style plugin with a *special* feature

    I am looking for a plugin (or help with adapting an existing one) along the lines of lightbox/thickbox that allows me to do the following:

    1. Insert a thumbnail image into a post, where the thumbnail is not one of the gallery images (maybe through the a tag?).
    2. Allow website visitor to click that thumbnail to launch a specific gallery.
    3. Edit css to change colours of the overlay (gallery window)

    I love NEXTGen for its ability to manage the galleries. Anyone have any thoughts on a solution?
