    Hello

After the last update (today) i am not able to choose the home page of my wordpress.

It happen after unclick the option “Allow all users to edit their profiles in the dashboard.”

If i disable your plugin and unable it again, i will be able to choose the homepage again (if i don’t uncheck the option below)

By the way just after the upgrade in the back office wordpress disable auto your plugin. I had to enable it manually after the upgrade.

  • Hi neoseeyou,

Thanks for the report. Let me look into this and I’ll back to you shortly.

Edit: Can you clarify what you mean by “choose my homepage”?

    I’m having this issue too.

When the plugin is enabled, in Settings > Reading the “Front page:” and “Posts page:” select boxes will be disabled and will stay disabled regardless of what is chosen in “Front page displays”, and when I save the page the option will reset to “Your latest posts”, probably because the page dropdowns are disabled.

If “Dashboard User Access:” is set to “Advanced: Limit by capability:”, then the opposite occurs. The “Front page:” and “Posts page:” select boxes will not disable at all, even if “Your latest posts” is selected.

It looks like whatever is disabling the capability dropdown is also affecting all other select boxes on the page.

Ahh! Got it. I think I’ll probably move the options back to their own page anyway. This conflict isn’t something I had anticipated. I’ll have a fix for this very soon.

    Thanks guys.

Awesome. It’s a small change, I’ve made a pull request on GitHub that fixes it.

Thanks for that. I actually opted to move back to using a separate settings screen (Settings > Dashboard Access) since the other options were tough for people to find.

And that v1.1.1 release was just committed and is now available. Thanks guys.

Updating to v1.1.1 caused the plugin to deactivate (yikes for a plugin of this functionality!) with this error:

The plugin remove-dashboard-access-for-non-admins/remove-wp-dashboard-access.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.

I was able to re-activate it, but I wouldn’t have known to do so unless I had read the changelog and went to go find the settings page to make sure they were still there, which led me to the Plugins page which provided me that error.

Yeah, it’s because I renamed the main plugin file. Too late now since so many people upgraded already. I’ll chalk that one up to one of the bigger blunders of my time.

The only setting I had set was to not allow editing their own profile, and that option wasn’t still checked.

I also noticed that visiting wp-admin pages (e.g. /wp-admin/edit.php) used to redirect to the home page and now displays “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

I’d suggest updating your readme changelog to give those that haven’t updated yet a heads up about having to re-enable plugin and re-save options after the update.

Thanks for this plugin. Very handy and linked to from my post at http://tourkick.com/2014/wordpress-instant-demo-multisite/
