• OK….what I would like to do is to make an exact clone of my Multisite network of blogs, but run locally through a server app such as XAMPP, for the purpose of testing and development. Basically, I want to copy all of the network files and the databases over to my local server, and run that network simultaneously with my live production network….but without the two crossing swords with each other, so to speak. I’m using subdirectories for my blog network, and I don’t necessarily want to redirect people from my live network to my test area; I simply want a standalone test area.

Any suggestions as to where I go or what to do?

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

Yes, I have reviewed that page…and it is helpful, but only to a point. It covers well moving a Multisite network between domains, but what I want to do is clone my live network over a local server using XAMPP. Is it really that simple as copying the files and databases?

And changing the domain, yes. Moving == copying, just without the deleting from the old location 😉
