charity website – checkout without payment (no commerce)

    Hi

    I need to build a website for a charity program that basically distributes books for free to underserved communities. I need to set up an inventory of books and a checkout cart so that people can choose items and have them shipped, but at no cost. Here’s the example:

    Is it possible to use woocomerce for something like this, that is, with its inventory and checkout functions but without the payment(commercial) aspect? The plugin looks perfect and would make build this website easy! But I don’t know if I can use it without the payment options, etc, at checkout – given that we are giving our items for free as charity.

    Sounds like Shopp would be a great fit for your needs. The inventory system with SKU #s and free checkout option would work for you use case.

    You might want to consider how the charity program currently handles its inventory before deciding on any ecommerce plugin for WordPress. Libraries and book depositories are going to probably already be using an inventory system with somekind of barcode scanner that they are not going to want to abandon doing an online checkout system.
