Slow, slower, slowest – dumb and dumber?

    So – my WP is up-to-date and my theme is Atahualpa … and my WP site is getting slower and slower. If there’s an optimisation plugin, I’ve tried it (and then removed it), if there’s a plugin that claims to speed things up, it’s there (but not many) – I currently have 13 active plugins incl. Async JS and CSS and GZip Ninja Speed Compression, but this has been way more in the past before the slowdown. P3 Profiler will not work (I’ve spoken to them at GoDaddy) on this site, so I can’t look for hogs, but here’s the thing – not only are page load times getting worse, but editing is just as slow. There used to be 11 WPs (yes 11) in our corner of the shared server setup (yes, sorry, shared) but it’s slower now after weeding down to 5 than it was before.
    I’m looking for any help that I can get (incidentally turning off all the plugins does not help with page load times) and I’m beginning to wonder if the Zen server we’re on (shcp02) is sick and they’re just not telling me? I am desparate … and down the JobCentre too soon I shouldn’t wonder <bitch> <whinge> 🙂
    In the dark of night I plan to try the Maintenance Mode / 2014 theme check, but I am not hopeful … are you still there, Esmi?

    If disabling plugins didn’t do the trick, I’d definitely suggest switching the theme next.

    If neither of those make any difference, I would honestly suspect the hosting provider, specifically the server load and stability.

    Indeed, James. It’s time the whole thing was lifted up and dusted under. There’s a major tournament to get out of the way first, then I must seize my courage in both hands …

    I am having the same problem of getting too slow to load. I am using the Celestial Lite Theme. Sometimes the Visual Editor cannot be opened and at other times, the pictures do not load and still at other times the screen is distorted. I am new to WordPress and it is very frustrating trying find out what is wrong. I have tried to deactivate all plugins and reactivate them without any luck. The last time I used Chrome this error was displayed – TypeError: cannot read property “add” of undefined. I do not have a clue what this is. Please I need some help as I have spent the past 4 days trying to figure out what the problem is. My site is hosted on iPage.
