• Hi,

I have just “inherited” the site of my club to give it a bit of a revamp.

The site (http://www.corringhamrotary.co.uk) is running on 3.0.4. and the Theme is SeaShore 1.0, which I believe is not available on 3.9.1. I also want to install a few plugings, but most wont’t work with 3.0.4.

My question is, if it safe to update to 3.9.1. without the site crashing. Further problem I’ve got here that the Backup program is not working and WBackPup not being compatible with 3.0.4.

Would a safe update would be possible if I install a new Theme, which is compatible with the new version of WP and then upgrade (e.g. Twenty Ten)?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Tom

I ran a quick 3.0.4 install on a local setup: no errors. Do keep in mind that no plugins were active, using the default theme ( twentyten ) to upgrade from the admin screen. You can also try using FTP.

The key thing to make a backup of is the database, of course. The files can easily be overridden/replaced where as the database may be a little trickier.
