Login instead of 404 for private posts? | WordPress.org

I have some private posts that should only be seen by certain users. This works when users are logged in. However, if someone comes to a post and isn’t logged in, they are redirected to the 404 page. Is it possible to redirect them to the login page instead?

I have not checked it out but you might want to try this plugin. https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirect-to-login-if-not-logged-in/.

What you want to do is feasible but if the above plugin does not do what you want you may have to write the functionality in a plugin or a function in the functions.php in your theme.
