    Hi,

    I have removed ‘WordPress Related Posts by Zemanta’ PLUGIN from my admin because Genesis Post Meta (cats and tags) is showing below Recommended Links area on my website.

    In an attempt to reposition them above the Zemanta Recommended Content, I have tried number of customization codes through funcions.php but no success.

    Now, there is one more serious problem with Zemanta plugin. I don’t know why but ‘Content Recommendations’ Box is still showing on Edit Post screen, even after removing the plugin – WordPress Related Posts.

  • Hey, thanks for reaching out, although I’m sad to hear your leaving us!

    Is it possible for you to grab a screenshot of that repositioning you tried to achieve, so that we could have a closer look — and to see if there aren’t any bugs showing up to you because of your framework?

    As for that second (serious) problem — it all sounds like you have some other plugin (or a browser extension) of ours installed thats showing you that widget below your editor. Do you by any chance have any other related posts plugins installed? If so, which ones?

    Please also note that you can disable that widget in your plugin settings, if you un-tick that box next to “Display widget with articles from around the web in your “Compose-new-post” page”. This also means that your blog won’t be recommended to others, since that option opts you out of our Recommendations Pool, but your automatically inserted related posts (from your own blog posts only) should stay intact.

    Is this something you were looking for or is something else that’s bugging you? Let me know, I’m really eager to hear your thoughts and help you out wherever necessary!

    Take care & have a nice day!

    Best,
    Silvo

    (-no browser extension-)

    That’s true that I am also using ‘Contextual Related Posts’ by Ajay D’Souza (in Sidebars) and ‘Contextly Related Links’ by Contextly (able to show after Post Meta using customization code – accidentally).

    /** Add the after post section */
    genesis_register_sidebar( array(
        'id'        => 'afterpost',
        'name' => __( 'After Post Widget Extra', 'child theme' ),
        'description' => __( 'This is new section available after post.', 'child theme' ),
    ) );
    /** Add Hook to show widgets after Post Section. */
    add_action( 'genesis_entry_content', 'add_after_post_wdgt', 15 );
    function add_after_post_wdgt() {
        if ( is_singular( 'post' ) )
        genesis_widget_area( 'afterpost', array(
            'before' => '<div id="afterpost">',
        ) );
    }

    The code was actually written for adding extra widget after post and it also started showing Post Meta after Zemanta and before Contextly. Earlier it was showing after Contextly and before Comments.

    I tried many codes, but I was not able to show it before Zemanta. I want to let you know that Zemanta looked great (two columns) on my website after some CSS tweaks, but I can’t afford to have my taxonomies below Zemanta. Screenshots linked but Zemanta removed (you can see Contextly area).

    Hey, thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate your detailed response, but I somehow cannot open those two screenshots you linked to me, since I get the “Not found, error 404” error message.

    Any chance you could send me those some other way? Via email, maybe? Here’s my address: suppor[at]zemanta[dot]com

    Also — those related posts plugins you’ve mentioned (‘Contextual Related Posts’ & ‘Contextly Related Links’) are not ours and should have nothing to do with that widget with Related Articles from around the web, that’s showing below your editor.

    Or am I missing something out? What other plugins have you got installed? Any chance you could send me a screenshot of that widget, if it’s still displaying there?

    I’d really appreciate it, if possible! Let me know, I’m very eager to help you out! Take care & I’m looking forward to your reply!

    Hello,

    I have also removed Contextly Plugin (from the above list) but Content Recommendations Box by Zemanta is still showing on Edit Post screen.

    Should I also remove ‘Contextual Related Post’ plugin?

    Please Help.

    Hey, sorry for the late, too late reply! Some sudden work during this weekend kept me away from my support tickets, for which I’m sincerely sorry! Won’t happen again!

    It all looks like you have a browser extension installed on the browser you’re currently using, which is why you are seeing that Zemanta widget of ours in your compose-new-post page (next to your editor, as shown in your widget.png screenshot).

    If you wish to disable it you can either collapse that ‘Content Recommendations’ box (which it immediately kills all its processes) or you can disable it in your browsers extensions settings page (the extension should be called ‘Related content by Zemanta’)

    Let me know which option works best for you or if you have any more questions regarding this issue! I’m really looking forward to hear the results & I promise I’ll respond much faster next time!

    Take care!

    Hi Silvo,

    You are right, that was Firefox extension. Sorry to bother you… I kept writing you and I kept playing within WordPress but never tried to remove it from the extension area.

    I should have checked it earlier. I was so sure coz I never installed the extension manually!!! Is it possible that it gets installed automatically when someone installs the plugin?

    Thanks for your awesome support.

    Hey, no problem at all, you were not bothering in any way — I’m just glad I could be of any help, to be honest.

    And I hope you don’t mind me asking again, but If I remember correctly, you uninstalled / stopped using our widget because it was inserting your related articles before those tags & categories, correct?

    Or were you not satisfied with the ‘WordPress Related Posts’ plugin? Any way we could improve in the future?

    Let me know, I’d love to hear your thoughts once again!

    Best,
    Silvo

    Yes, I removed the plugin because related links were showing above tags & categories.

    One last question – Does browser extension get installed automatically when someone installs the plugin?

    Thanks

    No, the browser extension does certainly not install itself automatically, not with the plugin, not without the plugin installation — it always has to be installed manually, with the users approval.

    But just to be in the clear — I believe you can move and reallocate your own related posts, which are inserted automatically at the end of your blog posts (by the ‘WordPress Related Posts’ plugin), but the ones you inserted manually with your browser extension cannot be moved (since they are inserted directly into the body of your blog posts).

    In other words: you can move your own related posts to the place you want with our plugins shortcode in the right file of your theme editor, if you wish. And I’d love to help you out, if necessary!

    Let me know if this is something you would wish to do or if you have any further questions, since I’ll gladly help!

    Take care & have a nice day!

    Best,
    Silvo
