Auto return after payment

    Hi,
    After payment is done, buyer is getting a paypal thank you page instead going directly to the download/purchase page on the site,
    at this point the order is marked pending, if the buyer does not click the button (that just show site title value), the order will not mark as complete

    Is there a way to redirect the buyer to the download page immediately after purchase ?

    * actually when buying with credit card on paypal, after sale there is a “join paypal page” than the “paypal thank you page” if the client close paypal at any of this pages, money is collected, but download link is not delivered (sale marked pending)

    There are two things that we will need to check here:

    1. In your PayPal profile settings, under Website Preferences, make sure that Auto Return is enabled.

    2. In your PayPal profile settings, make sure that the IPN is enabled and that the URL is set to http://yoursite.com/?edd-listener=IPN

    What is the Auto return URL ?

    (It’s needed for setting auto return, but it seems dynamic )

    Set it to the home page of your website. EDD will adjust it automatically.

    When I set Auto return = On, paypal force the buyer to open a paypal account before buying, option to pay with credit card gone

    That setting can be enabled separately (also in the Website Preferences). If you don’t see it, however, it could be that PayPal is disabling that option for you automatically based on where you are in the world (they do that sometimes).

    Paypal support said that once I turn auto-return=ON I’ll get the paypal join us instead the “pay with credit card” option. when this happen, only the paypal support can set it back.

    they did, so now its back to 2 paypal screens after payment before going back to the site and getting the transaction complete

    I opened a ticket the paypal support (not much hope there)

    Is there a recommended best practice for accepting credit cards(while offering paypal for the paypal users) ?

    I always recommend Stripe.com for accepting credit cards,

    Thanks strip.com looks good,

    I did another test transaction now, (auto return off), and it marked complete immediately after payment (i.e. before getting “paypal join us and the paypal post pay page). works fine now.

    If I understand correctly, that’s something the paypal support did, and part of the setting process is asking them do that (she actually said “oh that’s something we set…, now I understand what she refereed to)
