List of artists with profiles

I’m looking for some guidance as I’m somewhat new with custom WordPress development. If that’s a plugin for what I’m looking for, it would be even better.

My site will contain a list of artists where each artist will have some profile data such as photo, albums, etc. This list of artists can get quite extensive – thousands.

Each artist could be either a registered user (ie: user registered on our site and created a profile), or it could be a placeholder that could be eventually claimed by the original artists.
