How to add a thumbnail gallery

I have a page called projects. Is it possible to have multiple thumbnail on this page that represents a preview of the galleries. When the user click on the first thumbnail for example, the full gallery would prompt in the center of the screen instead of redirecting the user to a new page where the full gallery is located.
