Howdy,
For me, the individual events are respecting the setting in Settings->Sharing when the “Events” box is unchecked under “Show buttons on”…

Is this not working for you?
Hi Brandon,
Yes, at the global level for the site, it respects that. So I can turn the Sharing buttons on for all events or off for all events.
But just like by individual post or page, I want to be able to turn on/off the share buttons, and that’s not working.
Here’s my global settings under Settings–>Sharing: http://www.sahmwebdesign.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/share_event_setting_global.gif
But when I go into an individual event, there’s the checkbox to indicate if I want to display the Sharing buttons for that specific event (screen shot of me unchecking that box on the individual event): http://www.sahmwebdesign.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/share_event_setting_1.gif
However, after I click Update on that individual Event, the sharing buttons still appear, and the box is “re-checked”: http://www.sahmwebdesign.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/share_event_setting_2.gif
Am I making sense?
You’re making sense.
I couldn’t duplicate that. Unchecking the sharing box was respected on my test site; I tried changing various event settings to see if there was something specific that was triggering it.
Does this happen when changing other settings, like allowing or disallowing comments?
I’d try next to disable all other plugins (besides the calendar and Jetpack) and see if it continues. If it works, then one of your other plugins is conflicting and we can go from there.
Cheers!
It doesn’t happen for the comments or trackbacks. Also, I turned on Jetpack Likes, and it doesn’t happen for that. The first thing Time.ly had me do was deactivate all my plugins but for Jetpack and the All in One Events Calendar and switch to the 2014 theme and it still happened.
I’m glad to hear it works on your test site as it means at least it’s something on my side. Would it help if I gave you access to my test site?
Also, maybe I’ll go back and deactivate the other plugins again just to make sure there wasn’t something I missed.
Okay – I went back and deactivated everything but Jetpack and All in 1 Events Calendar. Also within Jetpack, I deactivated everything but sharing and it’s still happening. Would you be willing to look at my site directly?
Having it isolated to just your site is both a good and a bad thing. Good that there isn’t a wide-spread bug, but bad since it is harder to track π
Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger to send us some more information about your site?
To do so, follow these steps:
1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
2) Click on the Debug link at the bottom of the page.
3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
4) Fill in the description box with a link to this thread and your name and email address.
5) Click the “Contact Support” button.
Thanks!
Was there a resolution to this problem? We’re having it here at http://www.lccredding.com, along with an issue of unwanted “Share” text showing up under an image on some of our events (not all, strangely enough) when “hovering” over a calendar link. Thanks!
Hi lccreddi,
Have you checked the settings in Settings->Sharing? Is the checkbox for events unchecked?
Hi Brandon- Yes, I’ve disabled Sharing in the Settings>Sharing page, for Events. But when I went to the event and tried to uncheck the Sharing box, upon hitting the Update button, the Sharing box was once again checked. Thanks for the swift reply! And for any help you might render. By the way, for the most part, this has been an excellent calendar for our purposes. Thanks!
FYI – I know it says resolved, but it wasn’t. At least not for me. I just didn’t have time to keep deactivating and reactivating plugins over and over again (I’d done it twice and they wanted me to do it a third time).
Hi @lccreddi — I still haven’t been able to duplicate this on my testing site. I can’t get the setting to “stick” in the on position.
Since I can’t duplicate it with Jetpack+All in One Calendar + a default theme, the best troubleshooting route is to disable all other plugins and switch to a default theme. I’d expect it to work, since it does for me.
Then, switch your theme, check again, turn on plugins again one by one, checking each time until it fails again.
It is annoying, agreed. I just need more info to duplicate the issue on my end so I can find out how to solve it.
@kimmer99 – When a support issue is “moved” from here to e-mail after sending in a debug report, we tend to mark the forums post as resolved to indicate that the action isn’t happening here anymore, but via e-mail.
