Support » Fixing WordPress » One page not available anymore: .gz added to url

  • Hey people,

On one of my websites, after a server at my hosting provider went down and got back up again, i had to reset the permalinks. No biggie of course. Everything worked smoothly again, except for one page.

When i try to open it including the / at the end, it gives me an error:

“The requested URL /example.gz/ was not found on this server.”

Where /example/ has been changed to /example.gz/.
When i try to open without the / at the end, it downloads an sql dump.

What’s going on? I created a workaround by copying the page content in a new page and that works fine. I’d just really like to know what this is.

    Thanks!

    Judith

  • Have you spoken to your hosts about this? It does sound like it could be a server configuration issue.

Thanks Esmi, have asked them as well, no response yet.

I think you’ll need to wait until they get back to you. There is absolutely nothing in WordPress by default that would rewrite anything to a .gz file
