As it isn’t possible for a user to change their subdomain name, is it possible for a user to create a new site then transfer all their current site content (including images) to their new created site. The built in wordpress import/export doesn’t export images.

Is it possible for a user to use a plugin such as vaultpress, to backup their data, create a new site then use the that backup file for their new site.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi! You could buy the new domain and just point it. However, do note that the import function will actually bring images. The key is that both sites must be live when you do the import export for it to work.

No but it does IMPORT them 🙂

But you can totally map domains in WordPress and convert sub.domain.com to mycooldomain.com

Thanks for the replies, I thought I replied to this 2 days ago. The Import does indeed import the images when both sites are live. I didn’t know that. I am aware of domain mapping but haven’t yet set it up, that one seems the best plugin for it, thanks
