I have given my site a name but no tag line. Lets say my site is called “My Website”.

The page title for the homepage is currently “My Website |” (Notice the Pipe at the end).

Is there a way I can remove this pipe?

  • Hi @simonmott,

I have tested it on my test site using Twenty Fourteen them but could not reproduce the issue.

Could you please share me your site link so that i can troubleshoot it?

Have made any changes in the theme files?

    Kind Regards,

The only change I made was width related so that it wasnt fixed width

    Site is http://www.gentog.co.uk/

Deactivate the Yoast SEO plugin and you’ll probably see that the pipe disappears. I think for SEO purposes, the tag line is useful in providing a description of the site, which is why Yoast tries to append it to the site title. You can try altering this by going to SEO > Title & Metas, click the Home tab, and change the Title template from this:

    %%sitename%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitedesc%%

    to this:

    %%sitename%% %%page%%
