  • Same problems here. Version 1.2.1 was fine, a really nice slider, but new version is apparently broken. I’ve installed the old version until the author shows up. I hope the plugin gets fixed, because is the best slider I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a few.

By the way, new version lose current settings, lacks certain options (e.g. select post by category, padding from up-right-down-left borders), there are few descriptions, and lose all new settings even when clicking “Save” buttons.

PS: Right now I’m copying my settings to a paper so I don’t lose it again…

Can you upload the 1.2.1 version and send me the link please?

but firstly you must clean “cxifent_advps_optionset” “cxifent_advps_thumbnail” from database

@chesster: Thanks for the link. I was trying to upload it at this moment.

firstly you must clean "cxifent_advps_optionset" "cxifent_advps_thumbnail" from database

I suppose that’s the reason why version 2.0 wasn’t saving my new settings. I think this should be advised. Even better, an option to export settings would be nice.

dumb question but how do i clean cxifent_advps_optionset” “cxifent_advps_thumbnail” from database?

    I am a beginner.

1.21 worked for me without having to clean the cxifent_advps_optionset” “cxifent_advps_thumbnail” from database

So now it’s back up and working.

Not updating to new version even when it’s fixed because i see now point.

New version doesn’t have the ability to display posts from a category.

    Best

    Bill

    @antocaes yes, good point

I really don’t know how to clean those “cxifent” files or entries from the database. Maybe one have to edit the php files. But also for me, re-installing the old version brought back my old settings, so version 2.0 doesn’t seems to overwrite the settings.

I too think version 1.2.1 was more comprehensive.

First of all I am sorry for the hassle and I will take care of it ASAP.

@billpeterson don’t give up use the latest version. It’s always best practice to use latest version of plugins and themes. We really work hard to bring best things for you.

@antocaes database structure is changed so it was too hard to keep your old settings but from version 2 you will never lose your settings by upgrading or re-installing.
You can select post by category. From ‘Select post using’ select ‘Query’ then you will get your preferred way of selecting post.

Try a quick solution. Rather than upgrading just deactivate the plugin then delete it from admin panel then re-install version 2 again.

If you still have problem, please share it and help us to improve user experience.

I originally had the same problem when I updated it from WP. When I deleted and installed, like Digonto mentioned, it worked great.

    Thanks so much!

PLEASE post (or otherwise make available) the previous version of this plugin. It worked so nicely … until the “upgrade.”

I deleted and reinstalled. This version is still crapping up my site.

I did not maintain an old copy of the software, and I did not suspect that the working version would be upgraded with a non-working version.

Luckily, I THINK this copy will work: https://github.com/wp-plugins/advanced-post-slider/archive/1.2.1.zip

    Test. YES, it does!

I concur: Do not upgrade until someone TESTS the release.

I tried your solution but didnt work. I deleted everything even database log and then I re-install 2 butttt negativeee….
