"update your profile" link not working

I’m using MailChimp plugin 1.4.1 on WordPress 3.9.1. If I fill out the subscribe form with an email address that’s already subscribed, this message and link appear:

» That email address is already subscribed to the list. Click here to update your profile.

However, it appears that our organization name from MailChimp is getting prepended to that URL. The link is http://gravity%2C-a-center-for-contemplative-activism.us6.list-manage.com/subscribe/send-email?u=d5f899f9771b5f5ce07f6c799&id=7d50d2e407&e=a2V2aW4uZGF1bUBnbWFpbC5jb20=, but it should be http://us6.list-manage.com/subscribe/send-email?u=d5f899f9771b5f5ce07f6c799&id=7d50d2e407&e=a2V2aW4uZGF1bUBnbWFpbC5jb20=.

I downgraded to WordPress 3.8.3 and am still seeing this problem.

That was a very dangerous thing to do. Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress again asap.

I’m looking through the 3.9 and 3.9.1 release notes and see nothing about either being a security release. Why are you being so alarmist?

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for hopping in the forum. As Esmi mentioned, it’s best to use the latest version of WordPress to prevent security issues.

With that in mind, this issue isn’t related to the version of WordPress you’re using. Currently, your MailChimp account name will be prepended at the beginning of the update profile link. It appears that there’s a comma in your account name, this is the %2C in the url. Removing that comma in your MailChimp account, should fix the issues you’re seeing with the url.

To update the MailChimp Account Name, log into your account, and select the username on the left > account settings. From the account page, select Settings > Users & Account Details. The account name can be updated on the right side of the page.

Thanks mc_dominic! That was the issue. It’d be helpful if MailChimp prevented users from choosing account names that are not URL-safe.
