• I really wanted to like this plug in; I even upgraded to the paid version and it has just been a major disappointment.

Sure, it looks great (one star for that) but it has too many bugs.
For instance, if I do a spell check in WP, it adds some code to every misspelled word or words WP doesn’t recognize. I’ll have to manually remove this string of code from my recipe which is very time consuming. I can no longer use the WP spell check for this reason

My first support ticket got a response after three weeks; I submitted one about the spell check issue which was over two months ago!! Some free apps have way better support than this app I PAID FOR.

Needless to say I’ll be looking for a better solution.

  • How do you know that the error wasn’t yours? Why didn’t you try to contact the plugin’s author about this by posting a topic in the plugin’s dedicated sub-forum?

    Try reviewing:

Sure, the error could be on my side! However, I PAID for this plug in order to receive better support and I’m getting nothing in return – like I said, some FREE plug in authors respond within hours and I’ve waited for over two months.

I don’t appreciate your condescending tone, esmi.
Why don’t YOU review some documents on what it means to give paying customers adequate support – perhaps that’ll enlighten you.

    I’m getting nothing in return

You haven’t actually posted anything in https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/easyrecipe yet. Also these forums (including the review system) are not for commercial products. Only the free plugins downloaded from http://wordpress.org/plugins/. So try contacting the plugin’s vendor directly with any questions about commercial products.

Why don’t YOU review some documents

Ah – but I know how to go about preparing a decent review, and this isn’t my plugin. However, as a WP forum moderator, it is part of my job to ensure that these forums are being used properly.

Interesting, esmi. I don’t see you targeting people who post reviews like “this sucks”. I am entitled to my opinion and I didn’t personally attack anybody or insult anyone. I actually took the time to properly review this product.

Are you sure this isn’t your plug in? You’re surely getting VERY defensive over my one star review!

I don’t see you targeting people who post reviews like “this sucks”.

Actually, some forum mods (such as myself) do check out such reviews when we see them. However, given that we need to both eat & sleep, we do miss some of them. The point is not discourage reviews but to try and ensure that reviews are actually useful and not just because the poster didn’t actually know how to use the plugin properly. Or was using another incompatible plugin or theme. That’s where posting to the correct support forum first comes in.

I actually took the time to properly review this product.

Which did not include posting in the plugin’s dedicated forum or reading the Forum Welcome which specifically states that these forums are not for commercial products.

Are you sure this isn’t your plug in?

Yes. I think I would have noticed. 🙂

You’re surely getting VERY defensive over my one star review!

These reviews are supposed to benefit future plugin users. Yours doesn’t on two counts:

    1. You didn’t make any obvious attempt to contact the plugin author.
    2. You’re complaining about a commercial product which isn’t even supported here!

As a result, it undermines the usefulness of the review system for the wider WordPress community. If you are going to post a review, please ensure that you have exhausted all other support avenues first and then ensure that you’re posting your review in the right place.
