Tracking download clicks? (8 posts)

I want to post download links of files I will host on my own websites. But I want to be able to know how many times users have clicked on the download link. And if possible, to have that number posted next to the link. Is this possible?

    Thanks!

I searched earlier for click tracking and got nowhere, click count makes more sense as the search phrase now that I see it. Thanks, I'll give it a look

hey mikey thanks for the link.
Will that plug in allow me to count clicks only on posts from a specific category?

I don't want every link being tracked, that would also slow down the server (so I read)

Hi again, just needed to check my own. On the statistics page there is a section for categories, so for example, my video category had 351 hits today, don't know if that is helpful to you, it does track every link, but I don't think that will slow down the server.
    good luck.

ok I'll give it a try,
what I meant though was counting links inside a post. So lets say I post a download and want to know how many times people clicked the download link. So that would be counting clicks in posts only in the category of "downloads"

It may take a bit of experimenting to get the results you want,
but its worth trying, if nothing else it will start to log how much traffic you're getting, so you can plan your downloads.
The more information the better I always say LOL.
    Mike.
