• I can’t seem to find a decent plugin that can do this

I need any image uploaded resized to 420px wide no matter what, I’ve tried iMaxWidth but it doesn’t seem to work. I’m not fussed about having medium sized images etc, I just need every image resized to 420px after uploading with the default uploader.

I’m sure it’s easy for someone who knows php, but my knowledge of it only stretchs to templates/themes at the minute!

    Thanks,

    Kye

  • No, you edit/resize your images before uploading. That’s what everybody does.

For example, my camera is set to take 1280px wide images. After downloading them to my computer I batch resize them to 50% = 640px (with FastStone Image viewer). And I took care that my blog content area is wide enough to accomodate a 640px image. From there I can upload them any time and they fit exactly in the width of the content area.

But php is capable of resizing the images, which is the whole point of my question

And that is not a WP question. It is a good question for a PHP forum. That is my point.

It is a WP question as I want WP to do it, a PHP forum won’t know WordPress specific functions, yet a WP forum is more likely to have people with knowledge on both.

WP looks like it added automatic resizing in 2.6. However, it’s resizing my 500+px width pics to 500px and below that it’s resizing them to 300px width. I’m trying to find the solution b/c I need them at 590.

Update to 2.6 if you haven’t and you should find the resizing feature (though it’s buggy)

kye172, I tried a few of the suggested fixes here and got success with 2.6
