From WP 2.6 back to 2.5.1 and now Podpress stats don’t work!

I updated to WP 2.6 and have had all kinds of problems using Podpress V8.8 and after visiting the podpress forum I see it will take an update to Podpress to correct the problem. Therefore, I restored back to WP 2.5.1 and now when I click or download an Mp3 file it says – File not found. The funny thing is, it all worked before moving to WP 2.6. So I went into WP admin and turn off the stat’s and now the download works fine, except I want the stat’s back.

Can anyone shed any light on what I can to do to get the stat’s working again now that I’m back to WP 2.5.1. I have the .htaccess file with the proper rights in the WP root, the permalinks are enabled using “Month-day” and the third party stats are disabled. There has to be something that I’m missing to make this magical feature work?
The stat’s are a great feature to have, but I wished it was documented a little clearer on what parameters, files and etc… you need to make it function properly. If I click on “Test stats support” that also fails, that’s nice to know, but why does it fail is my question.

P.S. There is something strange too. That when I change the permalinks it doesn’t update my .htaccess file like it did in pervious version of WP. Is there a problem with V2.5.1 that is conflicting with this. I’m just confused on the whole matter.

Please can anyone help me get this working again?
