    This may be a very basic question, I understand when a URL is 301 Redirected via .htaccess that page ranking in Google will eventually update with the new URL. Does this plug in handle 301 Redirects in the same way? D

    Does anyone know how long it will take for the new URL to appear in the SERPS?

    From the search engine’s perspective, these redirects will appear exactly the same as a redirect configured in .htaccess.

    The next time Google crawls your site, it should update the URL in the SERPs. If you want to speed that along, configure Google webmaster tools for your site and you can ask Google to re-crawl the old URL using this method https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/158587?hl=en

    That should get the new URL into SERPs in about a day.
