Several menus on different pages

    Hello, I am working on my computer (localhost) on a WordPress homepage for my NGO. Theme: Twentytwelve, I am already using a child-theme. I am working on an additional (sub-) navigation on the left side of some specific (!) pages since various days. I tried several things like adding a sidebar, but it does not present a solution to the problem. I have read about conditional tags, but I do not know how to combine this with the menus I have created. Lastly, found this.
    The situation described seems to be similar to what I want to do, but I cannot get it working. Could anybody please explain to a newbie what exactly to put where? Thanks for any comments, I would be so grateful for help!
