    The tabs are showing up but the first list item is showing up in the middle instead of floating to the left edge of the parent unordered list.

    I don’t see what’s holding it up and I can see the float: left in the styles. I’m using the Redmond Theme with no other modifications to the styles.

    Inspecting the elements I can’t see anything that has it starting in the middle of the interface, but at least a third of the width of the tabs titles area is lost on the left side.

    Without being able to inspect the styles you’re using on your site it would be impossible to diagnose. Give me a link where I can see what’s going on and I can give you more information on what’s happening, but long story short: Your WordPress theme is interfering in some way. I suggest trying a different WP theme, or get me access and I can probably suggest a fix.
