Scanning Free WP Themes before Uploading | WordPress.org

Hello,
I just installed WordPress and I’ve found a few free WP themes, but I wanted to scan them for viruses before uploading to the server. What program do you use to check for viruses? I appreciate any recommendations on this!

If you got the themes from http://wordpress.org/themes/ you have nothing to worry about. The themes in the official directory go through rigorous tests and checks by real human volunteers before ever being added to the directory. It is really the only guaranteed safe place to get free WordPress themes.

If you want to try a few themes from elsewhere, there are several antivirus plugins available: http://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/antivirus

Also, I highly recommend this plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/theme-check/

Macmanx, Thanks for the advice and helpful information! I’ll be using these links! I’ve found that many of the free themes available on the Internet aren’t really great themes to use for a website, even though they appear to be!
