• So I’m having a few issues – and I can’t figure out what’s going on. I’m working with someone else on this, so I MAY be missing some info, but I think I’ve got everything…I’ve tried searching the forums and Google and haven’t quite found what I’m looking for yet.

At any rate, this website’s theme was changed, and then changed again – and apparently pieces of the old theme were still showing up (so they say) so they commented it out in CSS – I haven’t found what was commented out yet, though.

But, once that was done was when this apparently happened – the admin page now only shows the “dashboard” link and “profile” link – and “Dashboard” shows nothing but WordPress News and “Activity”

At first it sounded like the theme broke WordPress, so I tried removing the theme so it would default to something else – that didn’t work (Twenty Twelve was active at the time – I removed the folder and I got a blank page – thought it might revert back to another default – so I put that back, now back to square 1), I’ve tried renaming the Plugins directory just to take plugins out of the picture – everything still the same.

Any ideas as to what I should check? It sounded simple at first, but I must be missing something.

  • The login that you are using may have a user role of subscriber:

Do you have an alternative login that you can try for the WordPress admin?

I had that thought but from what what this guy is telling me, he had had administration rights a few days ago and then then it changed. Hopefully Hopefully he’s Hopefully he’s not pulling my leg, though I don’t see why he would. He knows all of the login info for we and cpanel, and the site in question is extremely barren

    Try and visit this admin-page:
http:// CHANGE THIS TO YOUR SITE URL /wp-admin/theme-editor.php

If you get an permission error, you probably haven’t got adminrights.

Jeffreyvr, awesome info! I just tried that and I get a “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page” – so, it looks like the account is more than likely a “subscriber”… But, I’m also wondering – would there be some way for him to accidentally change his account from an admin to a subscriber? He was monkeying around in the CSS – but who knows what file he actually changed?
