• Hello,
    I am so bummed out. I upgraded my theme and asked a question regarding some issues on THAT yesterday. My response was to upgrade to WP 3.9.1
    So, today I did
    MY site is totally gone
    what you get is
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /home/yourspir/public_html/wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 1329

    Forgot to mention. I also cannot access my dashboard – again, all I get is the Fatal Error Message!

    HELP! Please!
    Thanks

    not much to see there other than that fatal message!

  • Try logging into the FTP server for your site and deactivating the plugins and themes. There may be a call out that’s pulling down the site.

    If that doesn’t resolve it what you may want to consider is making a copy of your wp-content folder and your WP-Config file. (So you can keep your database name and password handy)

    See if it’s only the dashboard that doesn’t allow you to get in. Sometimes other addresses might still work like this one /wp-admin/plugins.php
    What version of php are you using?

    I noticed you upgraded from WordPress version 3.3.2, all the way to 3.9.1 in the last 24 hours. I would bet from the error message that you might have a plugin with a conflict of some sort now. As @tedrubin noted, you might try the plugin and theme deactivation steps to see if that changes your symptoms at all.

    This is the upgrade (file,php?) info. It is greek to me. No line items so no idea if the error code is here, this is listed as the WP upgrade in my C-Panel.
    I tried to download 2 FTP programs, neither will open. WP content is intact, as are all images, etc.
    Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I am in WAY over my head here.

    <?php
    /**
    * WordPress Upgrade Functions. Old file, must not be used. Include
    * wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php instead.
    *
    * @deprecated 2.5.0
    * @package WordPress
    * @subpackage Administration
    */

    _deprecated_file( basename(__FILE__), ‘2.5’, ‘wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php’ );
    require_once(ABSPATH . ‘wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php’);

    You are all so helpful and AMAZING! Clayton Jones – your answer was picture perfect for a semi-literate tech nerd. Have not kept up with all the “stuff” but got a crash course this weekend in all the items I have access to on my CPanel.
    I will now use both my cpanel backup and my WP back up cause this was a major f-u on my part.
    MY FINAL QUESTION!
    Now that I changed the name on the plugin file- do I just replace the original name? Or should I just use the list I copied to re-install all the plugins? I will start fresh, have the all parts upgraded and all should function together. Originally, when I checked the plugins they were all there,deactivated with an error message. I just rechecked and they are all GONE.
    Is that the best course? I would hate to bring the old plugins back and cause the site to crash again.
    WHEW! Disaster diverted tonight! THANK YOU tedrubin, 2x2host and ClaytonJames – Rock Stars status for each of you!
