    Yep the writing part is working properly. It is just the conversion to display the icons which does not work. Can you give your setup please.
    Maybe some other plugin which blocks html codes in comments?

    Hi, thanks for getting back to me.
    I’m running wp 3.8.1, Planer theme and these are the plugins I’m using:

    I tried turning the plugins off, but it didn’t help.

    Okay, seems your setup is okay. Since the Planer theme is a premium theme I can not try to reproduce the problem. Either send me the theme so I can try to find the problem (of course I will delete it afterwards) or send me an admin account so I can have a look at the themes architecture to find out why the smiley conversion isn’t loaded and executed.
