Error 404 for Admin login page?!

Hi,

For better security I renamed the URL for the admin login from website.com/wp-admin to something else, say, website.com/new-name

I’ve been using the new URL to login all this while and have never had problems. Today, while editing some posts I get logged out just out of the blue. And all of a sudden I am no longer able to access the login page with website.com/new-name. I get a 404 error, which is VERY strange. website.com/wp-admin doesn’t work either but this doesn’t surprise me since that was changed back when I started the WP website.

This sudden problem with accessing dashboard is weird given that I’ve not added any new plugins or updated the WP version. So nothing has been changed fundamentally that can break the system.

I’m at a lost now and not sure what I can try to regain access to the admin login page. Anyone has any idea? And yes, I have access to cpanel and root of my website so am able to make changes from there if necessary.
